Australian Pole Vaulter and two-times Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Alana Boyd will share her passion for healthy eating and supporting local businesses as part of her role as a Your Local Fruit Shop Ambassador.
Alana, who is a Sunshine Coast local, is a big advocate of supporting local independent businesses, and her need to maintain elite sporting fitness in the lead up to the Rio Olympic Games means Alana is always on the lookout for the freshest, quality produce as part of her nutrition plan.
“Nutrition is a key element to my sporting success and we are lucky in Queensland to have such a large variety of locally grown fruit and vegetables to select from,” she said.
“Whether I am in peak-training or shopping in my off-season, my independently-owned Local Fruit Shop is the place I go to get hand-picked, farm-fresh produce direct from the Brisbane Produce Market, and at the same time support family-run businesses.”
Brisbane Produce Market and Your Local Fruit Shop Spokesperson Cassandra Thurston said Alana’s involvement as a Your Local Fruit Shop Ambassador will bring awareness of the quality service offered by local independents across South East Queensland.
“Alana is a high achieving athlete and just like the hundreds of families who own independent fruit shops across SEQ, she’s passionate about selecting only the best fruit and vegetables,” she said.
“We are thrilled to be working with Alana on her road to the Rio Olympic Games and we look forward to updating our customers and social media fans on Alana’s progress over the coming months.”
