Green beans, also known as French beans, string beans, or snap beans, are the unripe fruit and protective pods of various cultivars of the common bean. Immature pods of the runner bean, yardlong bean, and hyancinth bean, are also used as snap beans.
Keep it simple when cooking fresh beans to allow their flavour and texture to shine.
Look for green string beans that are bright green, smooth, and have crisp pods. Avoid green beans that are limp and rubbery. Thin green beans are faster cooking and generally shorter in length, whereas, older thicker and longer green beans work well for French Cutting.
Good source of vitamin A, C and dietary fibre.
