Australian Mangoes are available from September to March

Mangoes are known as the King of Fruits. They are a smooth-skinned fruit with a beautiful, sensuous feel and sweet aroma. Their shape and size can vary considerably, as well as our flavour and colour. Typically, they are plump, egg or kidney-shaped, compressed (pushed in) sideways with a slightly pointed end. Beneath the skin is flesh which is fragrant, succulent, moist, orange-coloured, with some fibrous (but edible) strands, surrounding a large seed.

Selecting Tips

Select mangoes that are free of bruises and of an even size. A peach colouration on the skin is not an indication of ripeness. Instead, choose mangoes that yield to gentle pressure at the stem end and they will have a distinctive mango aroma.

Health Benefits

Mangoes are an excellent source of vitamins A and C, a good source of dietary fibre and a useful source of vitamins B1, B6, potassium and pantothenic acid. 180kJ/100g.
