Australian Persimmons are available from February to July.
Persimmons are the size and shape of a tomato and bright orange when ripe. Use fresh slices in salads, to accompany pork, lamb or chicken, to make ice cream, jams, purees and cakes. They are alternatively known as “Kaki”.
Choose firm, glossy, plump fruit that is free from blemishes.
The persimmon is a good source of vitamin C with some vitamin A and dietary fibre.
